3.1 Supply Chain

3.2 Estimated margins

Final data: Estimated margins by location along the dry bean supply chain.

Data includes margins along the dry bean supply chain, presented as a range from high to low. Data are separated by organic/conventional and by different types processes (e.g., canned/bagged, wholesale margin for dried/canned beans), and by scale. In many cases the margins are the across different categories.

All data was gathered through interviews with supply chain actors. See Section 1.1 for details.

Note: A margin is the percentage of the selling price that is profit. Margin = (selling price - cost)/selling price.
